About the Procsa Suite of Agreements
THE PROCSA® PROFESSIONAL CLIENT / CONSULTANT SERVICES AGREEMENTS
are a suite of agreements intended to regulate the terms of engagement between clients and Consultants in the construction industry. The agreements were prepared in consultation with the relevant constituent bodies including the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA)
The constituent bodies represented by the
PROCSA® Committee:
- Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors
- Association of Construction Project Managers
- Association of South African Quantity Surveyors
- Consulting Engineers South Africa
- South African Black Technical and Allied
- Careers Organisation
- South African Institute of Architects
- South African Property Owners Association
- The agreements are generic in nature, and have the same
- terms and conditions between clients and consultants.
The agreements fulfill the following requirements:

The agreements* identified above, provide for the separation of services and deliverables from the ‘basic’ services of Principal consultant and Principal agent.
Current and historic editions of the documents at reduced cost for reference only purposes (non-editable), a Matrix of services by discipline and by stage, together with combined suites of all the reference documents, are also all available.
PROCSA® as the basis of the terms of engagement between client and consultant comprises:
- Terms and conditions
- Schedule (schedule of variables, amendments and/or special conditions)
- Scope of services
- Further annexures (as required and identified)
PROCSA® EDITION 4.0 (OCTOBER 2017)
After almost 2 years of consultation with various role players, PROCSA® released Edition 4.0 with effect from October 2017. The emphasis of change has been in the terms and conditions on issues relating to indemnification, assignment, termination and dispute resolution. In the process,
various definitions have been either deleted, added or amended. Clauses relating to duration of the agreement, client and consultant obligations, limit of liability, payment and adjustment of fees and disbursements, have all had significant changes.
PROCSA® TRAINING WORKSHOPS
Contracts On-Demand have an exclusive agreement to facilitate PROCSA® workshops using the PROCSA® constituent bodies. Workshops and webinars are regularly held and offer training in the use of the PROCSA®. agreements, their content and application. The webinars are accessible online to all parties who wish to ensure that they are properly trained in the use of the documents for efficient implementation. The presenters are all PROCSA® committee members.
CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)
The participating constituent bodies have accepted PROCSA® workshops/webinars, as an accredited CPD learning process for their members and are granting them appropriate CPD credits. This is a Category A / Core Category 1 accreditation
